Reimaginary Friend's story began quite accidentally. For over 3 decades, I have created sustainable accessories, clothing, art, and products.
I am a self-taught Artist/Teacher/Designer driven to protect the environment. While safeguarding the planet and reducing post-consumer materials is our underlining mission, It's the Artist in me who looks for ways to have fun, innovation, and a positive impact by creating Reimaginary Friends.
Along my path, a dear friend had needed a transplant and when I asked him what he would like me to make him while he underwent the surgery that would provide comfort and warmth. He wanted a blue dog. A blue dog I gasped, I never made a stuffed animal? How could I refuse David? On my visit back to the hospital, I was greeted by Doctors, Nurses, and the Gift Shop Buyer, wanting to order dogs, and then several requests for other critters. And so it began.
Each creation is made by hand by me in a small studio in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Every creation is one of a kind. I locally collect upcycled materials and sanitize these materials in the hottest commercial washers and dryers. I search for the best and softest materials (mainly sweaters, knits, and fleece) while being mindful of the environment. Our fill is processed from recycled plastic bottles it's called poly-fill. No, it's not crunchy. It's super lofty and hypo-allergenic. All creations can be washed in a gentle cycle and line-dried. Remember those days of old-fashioned laundry... super simple. Follow the care instructions for years of joy!
Our critters are loved and adored by children and adults who find these handcrafted "keepsakes" delightful. We Thank You for supporting us! Each purchase is a small step towards a more sustainable planet. Together we can change our world!
